The soundboard is made of matched halves of spruce with grain spacing of 22 per inch. The pattern ring of the rosette is made from two back-to-back bands of chevrons. The bridge is dyed wood, and its tie-block is edged with two bone strips.

The one-piece back and the sides are African mahogany with double purfling on the soundboard and light wood edging. Neck and head are Spanish cedar with the head faced with African mahogany to match the body. Machine heads are engraved brass with black, shield-shaped, plastic grips. The ebony fingerboard has a slightly curved top with medium-height frets. The top lining is of separate blocks and the back lining is kerfed.

Galán’s skill and talent are evident in this guitar’s perfect workmanship and excellent sound. The guitar is in very good condition, original in all its parts except for new frets and one rebuilt tuning grip. Some French polish has been padded on during its history to rejuvenate the original finish and restore minor playing wear.

The sound is clear, quick, balanced and with good projection. All of the notes seem to engage and vibrate the sound cavity so players feel, as well as hear, their music.
