This guitar is built from prime materials and exhibits much detailed workmanship. The soundboard is made of matched halves of straight-grained spruce with grain spacing of 22 per inch near the center to 12 per inch at the edges. The rosette has a central band of open mosaic red diamonds with double black mosaic outlines. Heavy black and lighter red and natural circles surround this band. Perimeters are bands of red and light green half-chevrons. Wide (7mm) purflings, repeating the half-chevron pattern, decorate all body edges and the bottom end where the sides meet. The bridge is rosewood with its tie-block top framed with mother-of- pearl.

The two-piece back and sides are straight-grained Brazilian rosewood, and the center back seam has a wide (16mm) inset that matches the purfling’s design. Neck and head are cedar, and the face of the head is veneered with mahogany showing a thin contrasting center strip. The fingerboard is ebony with a bone nut. The guitar has a rejuvenated French polish of shellac finish.

The guitar is in good condition, and while the instrument has endured some careless handling, it has received mostly competent repair work to correct the damage.
