The soundboard is made from halves of fine straight-grained spruce with a uniform grain spacing of 24 per inch. The rosette has a main band of mosaic diamonds and dots in an “X” pattern. This central design band has borders of circles and herringbone bands. The rosewood bridge has its tie-block edged with bone. The guitar has a maple golpeador on the treble side and a clear plastic one on the bass side.

Back and sides are made of cypress and there is single purfling on the soundboard. Neck and head are made of cedar and the head has rosewood veneer on its face. Rosewood tuning pegs have inlaid mother-of-pearl dots in the small ends. The fingerboard is ebony with medium frets. Harmonic bars and crossbars have scalloped ends. Fernández’s Madrid luthier stamp appears on the foot of the heel-block.

This guitar is in excellent condition. It has a powerful, earthy voice with some metallic overtones. Tone is sharp, clear and balanced with nice separation.
